¡A Success! In Environments JUCONI

3, August 2024

The activities of the Environments JUCONI aim of social cohesion, active participation and community resilience, for the prevention of violence through modeling behaviors of care and protection, strengthening the family and the positive interactions.

An example of how these elements change the family dynamics is the case of Claudia, the head of the family and primary caregiver; she was married at the age of 16, was a teenage mother, and was made responsible for the activities of your home. The 25-year-old broke up and he saw the need to work to keep their 3 children as a single mother. Performed various sales jobs, and this did not allow him to have enough time to be close to their children. Went to the Environment JUCONI in search of a support that would allow them to better manage their workload. At the beginning, their children became part of the group, participated in support activities, school, recreation, and free play; subsequently, thanks to the educators community were promoting was always trying to get more into the activities of their children, Claudia learned about the importance of emotions, and for that reason, he decided to spend more time with your family. Supported by other caregivers, it gradually became a mom very participative organizing their time on the job to be present in the important issues of their children. Due to the skills and strengths that she was showing, JUCONI made him the invitation to join the project team. He is currently educator community.

Claudia tells us that prior to participating in the Environment JUCONI not have imagined being able to participate in a project like this, much less as a leader, but to see that his companions could take time for what's truly important, decided to do the same. In 2021 he returned to his studies and began the bachelor of Science in Education which assists Saturday. Took the training of leaders community with The Hunger Project and highlighted by its vision for the community. Today, it also caters to boys and girls in the Environment which leads to their own children and take the time to share with them day to day activities. She is also a facilitator in the sessions of the program, “Dad, I want to tell you that today I learned...” accompanying the processes of strengthening parenting skills with mothers and fathers migrants in the united States. His case is an example of how resilience is an important factor for the change in the family dynamics.

During 2021, a group of educators and community part of the team JUCONI participated with the project “Dad I want to tell you that today I learned...” in the meeting organized by the Accelerator of Innovation for the early Childhood U-Erre in partnership with The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University.
